UK brick sizes and how many bricks per m²

A standard UK brick measures 215mm long, 102.5mm wide and 65mm high. Add a 10mm mortar joint and each brick takes up 225 × 75mm of wall face, which works out at about 60 bricks per square metre for a single-skin wall.

How it works

1Single skin (half-brick wall): about 60 bricks per m².
2Double skin (one brick thick, 215mm wall): about 120 bricks per m².
3Concrete or aircrete blocks (440 × 215mm): about 10 blocks per m², whatever the thickness.
4Add 5–10% for cuts and breakages before you order.
