Plant hire: how requests, prices and insurance work

Tell us the kit you need and where it is going. Hire firms that cover your postcode reply with their own price, and you compare them side by side before booking direct with the firm you want.

Free for trades. No sign-up fee, and no charge to the firms for being listed.

Start a plant hire request

What happens after you send a request

  1. 1You describe the job: the plant you need, how long for, where it is going and how it gets in.
  2. 2We email the firms that cover your postcode. Each one sees your job details, never your phone number or email.
  3. 3Firms reply with their price through a private link. Your contact details stay hidden until you book.
  4. 4You compare the replies side by side, then confirm the booking with the firm by phone or email.

We match your postcode to a hire firm by straight-line distance from their own depot, so a firm showing near you is not a promise they can reach your site. Confirm access and delivery with the firm before you rely on a price.

Check these with the hire firm before you book

Every firm sets its own contract. These are the questions that decide what you actually pay and who is liable if something goes wrong.

  • Insurance and liability. Ask the firm what insurance covers the machine, what your liability is if it is damaged or stolen, and whether a damage excess or theft cover is included in the price you were quoted.
  • Operator. If an operator is supplied, ask who carries responsibility on site and whether the price includes their hours, fuel and breaks.
  • Road and pavement licences. If the machine has to cross a pavement, stand on the road or travel along a highway, ask who arranges the ticket or licence and what it costs.
  • Fuel, delivery and collection. These are quoted separately from the hire rate and can change, so ask for the full figure you would pay on the day.
  • Hire period and deposit. Check how a hire day or week is counted, when the clock starts and stops, what deposit is taken and when it comes back.
  • Condition on arrival. Check the machine over before the driver leaves and photograph anything already damaged, so the firm has a record.
  • Trained operators and safety. Confirm who is allowed to run the machine on your site and that the firm's operators hold the tickets their work needs.

Insurance and liability

Price Planter is not a hire firm, broker or insurer. We do not arrange, underwrite or advise on insurance, and we are not part of any hire agreement between you and a hire firm.

The hire firm's own insurance, liability and operator terms apply to your booking. Read them and ask the firm to confirm in writing what is covered, what is excluded and what you would have to pay if the machine is damaged, stolen or causes injury, before you commit.

Prices, availability and delivery areas on this site come from the hire firms themselves. We list a firm's published details and the pages they came from, and we never add a price or a coverage claim of our own.
